Building Stone: Natural Façade Stone or Concrete Decorative Stone

In the Iranian market, “building stone” covers two groups: quarried natural stones such as travertine, granite and marble, and concrete-based decorative coverings that reproduce a stone appearance through moulding. Sadr Stone manufactures only the second group. This guide explains the difference before you choose.

Natural stone or concrete decorative stone?

Natural stone is quarried and cut, so the colour and veining of each piece depend on its block. Concrete decorative stone is cast in moulds: its texture and size come from the mould, which makes the same pattern easier to repeat in later orders. Compare the two using each product’s technical data, not its name alone.

How to choose stone for façades and walls

For each location, check weight per square metre, fixing method (mortar, adhesive or mechanical), water absorption, freeze–thaw behaviour, joint colour and how a piece can be replaced. On façades, height, substrate and corner and opening details matter more than appearance. View a physical sample under the project’s real light.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sadr Stone sell natural stone?

No. Sadr Stone produces concrete-based decorative stone, exposed-concrete tiles and panels, decorative brick and wood-effect concrete. For natural stone, review the specifications of that stone’s supplier.

Is decorative stone suitable for exterior façades?

Many models have been installed on façades, but suitability for a specific façade depends on the model, substrate, fixing method and climate, and must be confirmed before ordering.
